The funeral for pop icon Michael Jackson was held on Thursday more than 2 months after his death.

Jackson was laid to rest in the Great Mausoleum in the Forest Lawn Cemetery in Glendale, alongside celebrities including Spencer Tracy and Walt Disney.

The funeral service lasted about an hour, and up to 200 people gathered for the occasion.

Fans of Jackson were told not to try to come to the funeral as it was to be a private service, and a no-fly zone was initiated to keep news helicopters away from the event.

The cemetery, spans more than 300 acres, is the final resting place for many a dead, but because of its beauty is also the spot of many weddings.

Jackson died back on June 25, and since then speculation as to his cause of death has been swirling.

Upon medical tests, it has been proven that Jackson died from a fatal dose of a powerful painkiller and his doctor is under investigation.
