Kelly Clarkson’s Self magazine photo shoot sparks controversy after the magazine showed a visibly slimmer photo of the American Idol on the cover.

The latest magazine cover to stir up a Photoshop controversy: women's health guide SELF.

Cover girl Kelly Clarkson, no stranger to retouching, is a sliver of her normal self on the September issue.

The slimming down is causing such a stir that SELF editor Lucy Danziger addressed the issue on her blog.

The first line of the post: "Do we retouch? Yes!"

Aside from regular celebrity retouching, Danziger openly admits to asking the art department to "shave off" a little from her own hips in a photo of her finishing a marathon that ran in the magazine.

"Whether she (Clarkson) is up or down in pounds is irrelevant (and to set the record straight, she works out and does boot-camp-style training, so she is as fit as anyone else we have featured in SELF)," Danziger writes.

"Kelly says she doesn't care what people think of her weight. So we say: That is the role model for the rest of us."

But, tell us, if Kelly is fine with her weight, why retouch at all?

From any perspective other than that of an accountant, This Is It, the movie built from recent Michael Jackson rehearsal footage, sounds like the worst kind of exploitation. And now you’ll be able to see it this fall, thanks to Sony. Speculation has run rampant for weeks that Sony would be the high bidder for the footage owned by the Jackson estate and AEG Live, and Variety reports that it is so: something like $60m is what it cost.

October 30, appropriately, is the date for the picture’s release. ‘Select sequences’ will be in 3D, and if there’s anything more (in)appropriate to Halloween than seeing Jackson’s devastated mug 50 feet tall in 3D, I’m not sure what it is. You could probably splice in outtakes from Pirhana 3D without many people noticing.

High School Musical director Kenny Ortega was choreographing the impending tour, and is directing the film. The source material was shot in HD at the Staples Center and the Forum in Los Angeles during Jackson’s rehearsals for a planned series of fifty concerts in at the O2 Arena in London. That’s an amazing run, not to mention probably a significant financial coup for the O2 Arena and city of London, so filming the rehearsals for the purpose of documentary was a great idea.

Now, the whole point is for AEG Live to recoup a shitload of money that had already been spent on the concert series. According to Billboard, $85m in tickets had been sold and needed to be refunded, $30m had been spent on production and Jackson had been given a $10m advance. The company has insurance which is probably paying back some of that money, but you can rest assured that the decision to quickly sell off this rehearsal footage has more to do with recouping costs (and hopefully making a profit) than anything else.

Question is, who will actually go see this? Michael Jackson die-hards seem to have few quality barriers when it comes to digesting product related to the pop star, so I’m sure the answer to my mostly rhetorical question is ‘millions.’ Sigh.

The late King of Pop is coming to the silver screen later this year for what turned out to be his final performance. Los Angeles Superior Court Judge Mitchell Beckloff, green lit the production deal Monday but halted plans for the sale of Michael Jackson merchandise until a later date.

The film rights, purchased by Sony Pictures Entertainment for $60 million, is comprised of over a hundred hours of Jackson's rehearsal footage as he prepared for his ill fated 'This Is It' tour. Jackson died just three weeks before the July 13 kick-off date.

"People who have seen this footage are astounded by the amazing quality of Michael Jackson's performance," said Sony Picture chairman, Michael Lynton. "This historic recording of the last time he sang and danced on stage shows the legendary artist in an incredibly powerful way, with crystal clear images and sound."

Following the suspicions of Jackson's mother Katherine, Judge Beckloff did not approve the merchandising deal and appointed an independent attorney to hash out estate matters. Katherine alongside Jackson's three young children, for whom she is the guardian of, collectively hold an 80 percent stake in the pop icon's estate. Per the contract, 90 percent of the film's proceeds will go to Jackson's estate.

According to the deal between concert promoters AEG Live and Columbia Pictures, which is owned by Sony Pictures Entertainment, the film must first be screened by the administrators of Jackson's estate. Additionally, the film cannot include any footage that will show the entertainer in a negative light.

The film is scheduled to be released October 30.

As we previously reported, a film centering on the late Micheal Jackson is happening. There was already a preliminary deal established last week between Jackson’s estate, Sony, and AEG Live. The next step would involve Katherine Jackson, the executor of Michael’s remaining assets to put in her two cents. According to Deadline Hollywood, everything is a go, and Sony Pictures already has a press release for the film circulating online.

Did I just read the phrase, “select sequences in 3-D?” Oh, no! The 3-D technology is getting everybody, not even Jackson’s tour footage is safe. It seems like Sony already had this project in the bag, before they even went to trial. If you read the entire press release, you can easily tell they had it on stand by for when they were given the official go ahead. They own Jackson’s music and the distribution rights for it so I think that gave them had the upper hand on everyone involved.

As you can see This is it will hit theaters the day before Halloween, and will include the last footage shot of the “King of Pop” in action. I’m still not a fan of that release date, but you have to capitalize, when you can capitalize.

We’ve been waiting patiently as major cities around the world have gotten their first look at “Inglourious Basterds,” and last night it was Los Angeles’ turn as Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie were spotted at the big premiere.

The “Fight Club” stud arrived with his lovely “Changeling” chick at Grauman’s Chinese Theater in Hollywood, posing up a storm for the paparazzi.

And Brangelina was definitely the hottest couple of the night, both looking stellar in their own respective all-black ensembles as they strolled past the shutterbugs.

“Inglourious Basterds” is scheduled to hit theaters nationwide August 21st and promises to live up to all of the Quentin Tarantino-infused hype.

A tax report has finally turned up for Madonna’s big Africa charity event held 18 months ago, and it’s revealing in unexpected ways.

If you recall, Madonna got Gucci to host an all star fundraiser back in February 2008 for her Raising Malawi-Kabbalah charity. Since Raising Malawi wasn’t a sanctioned 501 (c) 3 charity, Gucci collected the money instead and said it would distribute it to Raising Malawi and UNICEF. At the time, a claim was made in the press that the event — which had lots of celebrities like Tom Cruise and Demi Moore in attendance — made around $3.7 million.

The Gucci Foundation tax filing has just been obtained by this column via Guidestar.org. It shows that Gucci in fact did give just under $3 million to both Raising Malawi — which teaches Kabbalah Center curriculum to orphans in Malawi — and UNICEF each. (UNICEF received about $300,000 less than the newer organization.)

That’s swell. But the filing also lists who else gave what for that event.

The big surprise? Madonna doesn’t put her money where her famous mouth is. Her Ray of Light Foundation kicked in a paltry $54,000.Malawi is the country from which she’s (controversially) adopted two children and made a big deal out of her huge donations to help orphans. It’s not like she doesn’t have the money. According to Forbes, Madonna earned $110 million in 2008 from her Sticky and Sweet Tour.

Britney Spears looked youthful and sexy in a short, black dress at the 2009 Teen Choice Awards. Check out more pics after the jump...

Spears, with her recently dyed blonde hair, was at the 11th annual awards show to accept the biggest honor of the evening: the Ultimate Choice Award.

Miley Cyrus presented Spears with the Surf Board and later remarked, "She's a good friend of the family, so I'm just happy to finally show everyone that she's back, and she never went anywhere. She's had a successful career, I'm proud of her — and both of us being Southern girls, I love that."

Twilight star Ashley Greene later commented on Britney's hot look, which included Jimmy Choo shoes, "I wish Britney Spears would've performed. I didn't get to meet her, but I was so excited she was there. She looks great — I'm so happy for her. She's had a rough couple of years, but she looked phenomenal."

The Teen Choice Awards air Monday, Aug. 10 (8:00-10:00 PM ET/PT) on FOX!

Miley Cyrus danced around a pole in a skimpy pair of shorts flanked by scantly-clad dancers during her performance of 'Party in the USA' at the Teen Choice Awards. Is this too much for a 16-year-old at a kid's show?

Miley, who turns 17 on November 23, seems to be making a concious effort to shed her young image. She showed up to the 11th annual Awards show in a super short mini skirt and tank top.

At the show she won six awards, comedy TV show and actress for "Hannah Montana;" music/dance movie actress and hissy fit for "Hannah Montana: The Movie;" music single for "The Climb" and summer song for "Before the Storm" with the Jonas Brothers. (Full list of TCA winners here)

She also presented Britney Spears, who wore a short black dress, with the Ultimate Choice Award saying "I'm a huge fans of hers."

Last week a Georgia man was charged with attempting to stalk Miley Cyrus after he returned to the set where she is filming a movie near Savannah weeks after police warned him to stay away.

Scroll down for a bunch of Miley Cyrus pole dancing pictures and red carpet pics. Is it OK for a 16-year-old dress like this? Leave your comments below!

Oscar-winning actress and singer Jennifer Hudson gave birth to her first child, a son, on Monday night, Showbiz411.com is reporting.

E! Online and PEOPLE have both confirmed the news.

David Daniel Otunga Jr. was named after his dad, Hudson's fiancé. The couple decided to let the gender of their bundle of joy be a surprise, so they were sure to have both pink and blue clothes on hand for the birth.

"The baby is beautiful and perfect," Hudson's rep Lisa Kasteler told PEOPLE. "His parents are ecstatic."

Little David weighed in at 7 pounds, 14 ounces.

Hudson never actually announced she was pregnant, but the tell-tale signs (namely, a bump) blew her cover months ago.

The Hudson family has endured great hardship in the past year, with the murder of the singer's mother, brother and nephew at the hands of her sister's estranged husband.

According to the Chicago Sun-Times, Hudson moved from the Windy City after the crimes.
